I had the privilege to see the beautiful St. John's Bible in person a week ago. A beautiful way to start the holidays.
In case you are unfamiliar with it, the purpose of the St. John's Bible was " To create a Bible that would capture the beauty and tradition of centuries of liturgy and carry it into the future—that is the vision that united a calligrapher in Wales with a group of Benedictine monks in Minnesota."
It is a beautiful, fascinating visual interpretation of Scripture by artists with different styles. Visit the website of the St. Johns Bible and spend some time exploring, but know that the screen images can't possibly capture the shimmer and texture of the gold ink and the absolute breathtaking beauty of combining Scripture with art in a tradition we haven't seen in many years.
